Famitsu Game Rankings

Well, it may come to you as no surprise what our top spot is this week. It's Japan's "Modern Warfare" moment, as Square Enix drops one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year on Japan's lap just in time for Christmas. The number one spot sold 1.5 million units in Japan alone, on the first day. Elsewhere Nintendo dominates; New Super Mario Bros. sells like mad (last I heard; NSMB Wii had sold around 1.4 million units in Japan since the 3rd of December. Not bad at all.), 8 of 10 titles on the list for Christmas 2009 are Nintendo platform titles, 6 of those being 1st party titles (Pokemon Company included). Full list below; and Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas/Happy Presentmas/Seasons Greetings, (delete where applicable) readers!

Famitsu Game Rankings are sales figures collected and compiled by Japanese magazine company; Famitsu. They are generally posted every Wednesday and reflect the sales of games from the past week. All sales dates are Japanese dates and may not reflect release dates from other regions. 50Hz Blogger transliterates these lists and places them on the blog every week. Check back every Wednesday for updates. (Sometimes there may be an unexpected delay, in which case readers may find them appear on a Thursday or Friday... Not saying which weeks though...)
